Inspired Woman Project

Heather Chauvin - Just Breathe

As we wind down from the hurried pace and expectations of the holiday season, and the New Year is fast approaching, it seems fitting to reflect back on all that we have and all that we are still trying to realize.

In the latest interview of the Inspired Woman Project with Heather Chauvin, we rediscover that life holds no guarantees; that it is up to each of us to overcome our fears, light up our own spark and sometimes, just breathe….

In December of 2013, Heather was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that upon reflection woke her up to a new way of being in her life. In this interview, she discusses how she was able to move through her fear by fully allowing it, no matter how difficult it got. By remembering to breathe deeply and center herself in the moment, she could eventually detach from it and let it go. “When people get stuck in fear they tend to panic or freeze” says Heather.  It is uncomfortable and most of us want to push it down or distract ourselves away from it. Heather sees it differently now, knowing that you don’t have to become attached to the fear and you don’t have to resist, you simply need to breathe and allow.

The second fundamental lesson that Heather is passionate to share is that taking care of ourselves is not a selfish act, but rather the most important way we can show up in our lives. When we are filled it is reflected unto everyone around us, especially the ones we are most connected to. Heather knows from experience that self-care is not an easy habit to form, but that once the seeds are planted, our families, our friends and we, ourselves, will be better for it. “Every day I feel not good enough” says Heather, but then she catches herself and asks “is that my truth or just a story?” She doesn’t run from her pain or fear anymore, and she knows firsthand that in this month of gifts, her life is the greatest one.

Debbie Lichter - Creativity as Healing...

Every day we are creating.

Creativity doesn’t have to mean being artistic or crafty, though this is often the immediate association. With every choice and every action we are creating our lives. With the presentation of a homemade meal, the way in which we interact and play with our children or perhaps even the alternate route we choose to drive home at night, we are being creative.

When someone expresses the thought I am not very creative, perhaps what they are really saying is I don’t like what I am creating. These are the thoughts expressed in my latest interview featuring Debbie Lichter, Jewelry Designer and owner of Urban Blossom Jewelry. (www.UrbanBlossomJewelry.com)

For many years, Debbie placed these same creative limitations upon her own life. She battled her inner feelings of inadequacy and loneliness, eventually creating pathways to her deepest core and alignment to her authentic self. One of those pathways led her one night into a bead store where she felt something shift within her. At first, making jewelry was solely a personal expression and a source of healing. Soon her friends started asking to buy her pieces and a business was born.

Each of us struggles at times to claim our own unique gifts and to be vulnerable. The question Debbie poses to each of us is: “Does the pain of staying where I am outweigh the fear of what’s on the other side?” For her the answer was clear. Stepping into the unknown and starting her business feels exhilarating, scary and empowering in a way she has never felt before. Posed with this same question what might you choose?

The Inspired Woman Project Interview:  Debbie Lichter

Debbie Lichter is a women’s empowerment and embodiment leader, a visionary artist and creator of Urban Blossom Jewelry. Debbie helps women to step into their vibrant self-expression and inner power through a combination of self-care practices, healing work, and through her one-of-a-kind, handcrafted jewelry. (www.urbanblossomjewelry.com)

After almost a decade of inner suffering and denial, Debbie found a way to  embark on a path of healing that encompassed holistic wellness, spiritual recovery and artistic expression. In 2011 Debbie expanded her personal healing work by exploring artistic expression as a tool to discover and recover her creative self.

Today Debbie channels her years of healing wisdom and coaching into her jewelry, where each piece serves as a potent symbol and activator that inspires, awakens and supports women on their journey. She also shares her compelling personal transformation story via public speaking engagements.

Cristie Cooke - Discover Your Unique Genius...

The part of you that is always there and you can't make it go away is actually the YOU that is exactly what your ideal clients are wanting.

Coming from a business background, I have had the experience of trying to THINK my way into the best business decision for my niche.  All that left with me with was a lot of theory.  It also left me with a lot of "shoulds". I was bringing myself into an experience created from my mind, which in my background was all that was necessary, or expected.  In fact, anything more than that was not based in fact.

However, when running and building my business, I discovered that that approach didn't work.  In fact, it kept me spinning, chasing, looking, for things that made sense, but didn't work.

When I finally decided to be the whole me, bringing everything I am to my business, that's when things became interesting. The parts of me that I thought everyone had, or that weren't a differentiation, were exactly the things that make me unique.  It is exactly what makes me and my business different from anyone else.

I am so excited to share one of the keys to how I became comfortable in my unique greatness! I'm so excited to share the interview with Cristi Cooke this week, and I hope once you hear her things will become so much more clear for you in finding your niche, or your unique genius, just like it did for me!

Anne Perry - Business is Not for the Faint of Heart...

Being an entrepreneur or a leader in business is definitely a time to dig deep.  You see what you are made of, and then decide how that is serving you, and if you want to keep showing up like that – in business and the world.  This can be a significant opportunity for personal growth and discovery, not only so you can create the business you want, but so you can be the person you want.

Since my entrepreneurship path began, I have worked through many of my beliefs and patterns, in true entrepreneurial style, so I can do it MY way.  Here are the top beliefs I hear from women entrepreneurs.

1. I don’t know enough yet – or – How can I charge those rates?

This ultimately comes down to a self-worth issue at it’s core.  What is your value in the world and do you allow yourself to receive your value.  However, I love the perspective one of my mentors Alexis Neely shared, you are priceless.  So you will not ever be charging what you are worth.

2. If I succeed in my business, other parts of my life with fail.

We have an idea that things can’t be too good.  That to be successful in business means that it is all consuming and taking over your life.  That is a belief that may be held deep and an opportunity for a new perspective.  This is where we connect to what we really want.  What is truly important?  When you shed other people’s expectations, “shoulds”, beliefs, you can reinvent something that is exactly your unique definition of success.

3.  What if I fail?

When I interview each of these amazing entrepreneurs it is so clear that taking the first step and being willing to believe and take a risk is so important.  And the great things is that when you can take the first step, if it doesn’t work, you will reevaluate and identify the next best path.  When you can stay connected to the truth in you, instead of being led by fear, it often time appears that the “misstep” was necessary for you to see the next even greater opportunity now right in front of your face!

Cristina Laskar - Limitless Energy to Create

How is your energy?  Do you feel a little tired, maybe not sleeping so well at night because of kids, or stress, or mind chatter?  It has become so clear to me how important self-care is to the success of my business, and the rest of my life.  When I am not taking proper care (for me), I start to notice that my feeling tired keeps me from doing the most important tasks, or from planning properly for the important next steps in my business.  And of course, I can have less patience with my kids!

What are you doing to help your self to stay focused on what you really want, and to take consistent action toward creating that everyday?  Right now my focus is on my meditation practice and going for a walk or some physical movement each day.  When I am doing this, I notice how much more productive I am, more focused, and more grounded in all areas of my life.

During the interview with Cristina, she shares one of her strategies for keeping her energy high – and boy does she have a lot of energy – and it is so simple, yet so challenging.  But she is such a beautiful example, that it has inspired me to give it a try!  I would love to hear what you do to help yourself to create exactly what you want!  Share in the comments below.

The Inspired Woman Project Interview: with Cristina Laskar

Cristina Laskar is the Founder & CEO of Connectavid, www.connectavid.com,  a social network/crowd sourcing/crowd funding support site for social causes. Cristina feels very strongly that she is here to change the world and through her latest venture, she is bringing connection and a personal touch to the internet community.

Cristina has an amazing energy, and connection to her whole self. Throughout her career incarnations of real estate, natural health coach and now her latest venture, she stays true to herself, the flow within her family and her conviction that together we can transform the world.

Melody Biringer - What if it fails? What if it succeeds?

As an entrepreneur taking risks can be scary.  What if it doesn't work, what if it does?  Sometimes it can feel like everything is so important, that if you make one wrong move it will all fall apart. As I was getting ready to take the next big step in my business (it feels more like a LEAP), I started feeling stuck.  I began to keep myself from moving forward to keep myself safe.  The discomfort of not taking the next step was safer than the risk  for it to fail (or succeed).

During the interview this week with Melody Biringer, this shifted.  I realized that it isn't about the next step or business opportunity being perfect, or about whether it succeeds or fails.  It is about being in action, trusting the process, and knowing that each step is leading you to the next right action.  Even if something doesn't work, there is always another opportunity.  Each of the opportunities come to us when we are ready for it.  Listening to Melody's story inspired me to take action, to take risks, and to listen to what I know is the next right action.

I'm excited for you to listen to her story too.  I look forward to hearing your aha's and insights in the comments section below!

Jolette Jai - Where Parenting and Business Connect

What does parenting and business have to do with one another?  Well, I like the saying "how you do one thing, is how you do everything".  If I am stressed with my work, that stress impacts my family.  If I am hurrying and rushed, with too much to do, that also impacts my family.  And it works the other way too - it things are going on in my family that could easily keep me preoccupied in my work.  Not to mention the logistical pieces - doctor appointments, school functions, work trips that cross over between the two. I have seen over and over how my mood, my stress levels, my state of mind, and how I am feeling inside, shows up in my family.  When I am in a connected, grounded place within myself, it is so much easier for me to have connected, grounded relationships and interactions with my children and my husband.

My kids are sensitive, so they pick up on what I might be experiencing.  Plus, I'm not that great at compartmentalizing.  I am whole and complete and imperfect.  I have learned some amazing tools, techniques, and perspectives that have helped me to be more connected in my parenting.  And I am so grateful to be able to share these tools and new perspectives around communication with other women creating amazing change in the world.  And going back to "how you do one thing is how you do everything", I find that I use those exact same things in all areas of my life - especially in my work.

What one thing are you doing that is showing up everywhere?  Are you experiencing the connection and presence with your kids that you want to be, how is that impacting your work?  How is your work impacting your family?  I would love to hear from you in the comments section below!

The Inspired Woman Project Interview with Jolette Jai

I’m excited to share the latest interview with one of my coaches and someone who has significantly influenced my work in the world.  Jolette Jai, is the founder of the Jai Institute for Parentingwww.jaiinstituteforparenting.com.

She is a passionate entrepreneur, paradigm-shifter, and fun-loving mom, who trains parent coaches around the world to support parents to be able to bring more peace and calm into their family and more connection between parent and child. She is also the co-author of Quality Time With Your Kids: The Simple Directions, Jolette believes in following your heart, loving up your loved ones, and spreading your wings whenever you get the chance.

During our interview, we discuss her definition of success, what balance looks like for her and raising her son, what she needed to let go of to be where she is right now, and some of the feelings she experienced along the way.

Lisa Fraley - It Can Be A Windy Path

Some people KNOW what they are meant to do in this world and go do it.  Others take a more scenic route.  I was definitely on the scenic path - starting in corporate and on the side becoming certified in a long list of interests (cranio sacral therapy, all kinds of yoga teacher certifications, health coach, parent coach, transformational coach, you get the idea). The interesting thing is that so often people feel they have to put parts of themselves in a box so they can deliver their gifts into the world, or to take their career or business to the next level.  But what if it is actually the opposite?  What if embracing all of you, bringing it all together, being WHOLE, is actually the path to your true success?

  • What are the parts of you that you are leaving out?
  • What needs to be integrated?
  • What will make you more whole?

In my latest interview with Lisa Fraley, The Legal Coach, www.LisaFraley.com, she shares her windy and inspiring path that led her from a top legal career at a top firm to quitting and beginning an exciting new career that led her to her own definition of success, that includes ALL of her.

Dawn Dalili - Live in a Body You Love

I'm so excited to share this interview with you! As busy women - working, being mom (and everything else) - we know it can be hard to prioritize where you fall on your priority list.  Every person has their own path, but for me, after my last child was born, it became really important for me to get my body back.  And for me, this is where my path to learning more about myself, my body, and getting really clear on what is important to me, began with a renewed focus to my body and my health.

Dawn Dalili, a naturopathic doctor, yoga teacher, and certified in eating psychology and transformational coaching is supporting people to live in a body they love, free from judgement and obsession, and to not let that hold them back from living their life!

During our interview, Dawn shares her perspective on being in her body, some amazing things you can put into your experience right away, and what it's like being a mom and running her own business!

Deirdre Van Nest - How Bad Do You Want It?

A conversation I have been having lately with my clients and friends is around creating the success and vision we want for our lives.  My theory is that one key factor in success is how bad do you want it? I know that being a successful woman in business, with a family, can be challenging at times.  It can be hard work.  It can be all consuming.  Does it have to be?  I don't think so, but we can save that topic for another day.

AND - it is worth it, if you want it.  And, if you know what you want.

Some of you may know by now that I believe that our definition of success changes over time.  For me, I knew that I wanted to create the kind of freedom and time and flexibility to do work I love and have more time with my family.  I didn't want to spend my days commuting and doing work that was fine, but not on my purposeful path.

This was not easy.  There were times when it was exhausting, when I would cry, or feel so tired that I should just let it all go.  But I knew what I wanted, it was so crystal clear for me, and I knew I would have it.  The interesting thing is that I didn't always know what that would look like exactly (would I be a health coach, a cranio sacral therapist, a yoga teacher...), but I always knew I would create what I wanted.  And what I wanted was the flexible lifestyle, doing work I love, AND having more time with my family.

So how bad do you want it?

I'm not saying you have to work every moment of every day - I actually don't believe that anymore - at all!!  But you have to be crystal clear about what you want, and believe in every cell in your body that you will get there.

Do you know what you want?  Do you believe?

Of course there are things that get in the way, that show up that need to be worked through.  Those are the moments that count.  Do you work THROUGH, or do you stop?  Do you see these as opportunities to get more clarity and learn more about yourself, or even to shift perspectives and beliefs?  Or do you keep running in a circle of can I, should I, maybe.

If you would like more clarity about what you want, reach out.  That's what I am here for.  If I can help you, we can set up a time to talk.

The Next Inspired Woman Project Episode is Live!

Elizabeth Purvis - Baking Cookies & Writing Emails

What does that have to do with success?

Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday.  So we have lots of things going on here.  And my business is super busy too.  So this brings up a lot around how to balance things, how to stay focused on the "right" things, and creating my own definition of success.

I'm standing in my kitchen literally baking cookies and writing this post.  Tomorrow we are bringing a birthday treat to school and my daughter wants chocolate chip cookies.  So I am trying to make them small enough to not give them a sugar attack in the middle of school and somehow it seems that each pan is getting a little bit smaller... anyway.

You might be wondering what baking cookies and writing emails or blog posts has to do with success, well, for me, this is exactly my definition of success.  I want to be able to be a part of my kids lives (even though right now they are in school), so I can take care of things on the home front and have a successful business where I am making a difference in people's lives.  It's not always this eloquent, but right now this is just right.  Creating the flexibility to take care of the things that are important to me at the time, is super important to me.  And today that is writing this email and taking care of birthday preparations for tomorrow (among other things).

(It smells really good in here too...)

I would love to invite you to explore your unique definition of success.  What do you want, what is important to you?  It changes over time and I find that a lot of times we don't allow ourselves to truly WANT.  So I would love to open that space for you to truly explore - what do you want?  What do you want right now in this moment, what do you want for dinner, what do you want next in your business.  We are amazing creatures - driven women on a mission - we can create a lot!

If you would like support exploring what this looks like for you, I invite you to schedule a time with me for a Discovery Session.  We can use this time to get clear on what you want, what is keeping you from having it, and most likely you will get clarity on at least one thing you can do next.

I just got the warning beep from the oven, so I need to make this quick.

Click here to schedule your Discovery Session with me, I would love to support you around creating that clarity for you, your life and your business.

THE NEXT PODCAST EPISODE IS LIVE - WITH ELIZABETH PURVIS OF THE GODDESS BUSINESS SCHOOL.
