Julia Maryanska - A Creative Life...

There is a misguided belief out there that only certain people are creative. Is this true?

Have you ever watched a child playing with their toys, building a structure out of blocks, or whipping up a pretend meal outside with nothing but acorns and rocks? Well, then you have witnessed creativity in action.

When posed with the question of “how does one bring out their creativity?” Julia Maryanska, a filmmaker and photographer, and this week’s Inspiring Woman, answered that we are all already creative.

Every one of us is born a creative, spontaneous thinker. The only difference between people who are creative and people who are not is a simple belief. Creative people believe they are creative.

“What is that thing that you do that when you do it, you lose all track of time?” Julia asks.

Think about it….because in that moment you have entered a flow state of creativity, a place that exists within all of us. It could be cooking, singing, planting a garden or building a website….it is all personal and reaching from within us.

Now, what would happen if you just leaned into that. What if you began to ignore those voices in your head that are obstructing your creative joy? Perhaps, your creativity would be unleased and you could live authentically by your own standards, fully stepping in to what makes you happy.

These are the assertions that Julia Maryanska revolves her life around. Carving out her own path, staying open to all possibilities and seizing opportunities when they appear. In this way, Julia has been able to stay current with her creative aspirations, merging her life and her work and living life on her terms.

Julia’s interview is enlivening as she traces the serendipitous moments that have defined her path, and her perspective on creativity is quite refreshing. Enjoy!
