Throughout my career in corporate leading teams, managing sales targets, developing product concepts, it was always ruled by the mighty spreadsheet, which was were the mighty dollar lived in our projections.
If it didn't fit on the spreadsheet it was somehow unimportant (even with so many attempts at quantifying the softer aspects).
Everything required data to prove its worth.
So of course, that's code for look externally to prove your internal worth or value.
Whether it's for an idea, a product, a business case, or even yourself.
So listening to your gut or intuition, is rightly set aside, as it doesn't fit into the spreadsheet - color coded and all.
And I understand that. When you look at the energy of many businesses, underneath all the targets, goals, missions, is FEAR.
If I don't X then I may lose my job, not be worthy, not be able to provide for my family.
And it goes all the way up and down in a organization.
Fear is a powerful ruler.
So where does intuition find its place in business, and does it?
There is an epidemic of stress and anxiety in employees and leaders. And at the root of that is a misalignment within themselves.
The reality is that we are not created to live only from our head, we have this whole body and lots of wisdom and knowing that goes with it.
When we shut off part of ourselves we are automatically out of alignment.
In order to come back into full integrity in ourselves, we have to bring back online all the parts that make up who we are.
We are a complex being and working only from our brain is severely limiting our potential, our health, our joy and satisfaction, and our impact.
Yes, it may require having challenging conversations and adding more depth to the metrics - AND the ripple effect that comes from having whole, fulfilled people making important decisions is priceless - for the person, the company, and the community or world.
It's time to lead from your TRUTH, the whole of yourself, not just your over worked brain.
